home renovations : here we go again!

Tearing up 20 year old tile, is not an easy job - especially when it shatters and cuts!

I think Sonny our dog is very confused!

No that's not my husband!!! LOL - that's Martin - our good friend and local organic farmer that we love!

Not the safest way to cut tiles *note no shoes on BUT has stylish sunglasses on!

It's now July, we've managed to get back on track - first order of duty - FIND TILES!!!! If you've ever tried shopping for tiles, you'd know how hard it really is to pick the right size, the right colour, the right texture and most importantly, the right price!
My pictures here do not do our new tiles any kind of justice at all - they actually look yellow in these pictures but that's from our stove lights - they're actually a very neutral beige that work well with the colours we've put in the kitchen...and what a great job Andrew and Martin did. Let me just tell you that I did a James Brown dance on them when then were dry because I was going on over a year without a kitchen floor...I'm exaggerating of course but it felt like over a year!
The following week, Andrew and two of his friends attacked our hallway tiles, they were poorly put in and had huge grout lines and were just...well...awful, so we decided to tear them up. I wish it was as easy to pull them up as saying "tear them up". It took them a good 6 hours and a few cuts and scrapes but it got done and our new subfloor got put in that weekend!
This weekend - new hallway tiles!!!
